Major Infrastructure Tunnel Project – Lighting, Power & Electrical by Ester Electrical
Complex. Collaborative. Critical.
Since 2019, Ester Electrical has proudly delivered end-to-end electrical services for one of Auckland’s most ambitious infrastructure tunnel projects. From deep-shaft lighting to EV charging, our multidisciplinary approach played a pivotal role across tunnelling and above-ground works.
This long-term engagement required robust coordination, specialist knowledge, and an unwavering focus on health and safety.
Our role included:
- Lighting design and installation within the main shaft and various project locations
- Labour resourcing for tunnelling operations and above-ground pump stations
- Testing and commissioning of 11kV leads powering the tunnel boring machine
-
Design and build contracts across multiple buildings, covering electrical, data, security, HVAC, and fire protection systems
- Installation of lightning protection and onsite EV charging infrastructure
Engineering excellence, 43 metres below ground
One standout milestone was the installation of gantry shed lighting—14 metres above a 43-metre-deep shaft. This high-risk task required detailed install methodology, precise execution, and tight integration with other contractors onsite.
Our team delivered it seamlessly, showcasing the strength of our internal systems, technical capability, and commitment to safety.
